Peer Support
Saving firefighters while saving lives is the mission of 360 Fire Training. In 2015, firefighter suicide rose to the top of being the number one killer of those in our profession. It has remained at the top of this list every year since.
As data on the topic is not universally tracked and reported, it is believed that the number of firefighter suicides could be much higher than what we are currently aware of. If it is predictable, it is preventable and it is our goal to eliminate firefighter suicide altogether.
“The Ghosts They Carry” is a 20-minute video short that has been masterfully written, filmed, and produced by a highly professional staff who work in both the first responder industry and in the film industry. The goal of this short film is to bring awareness to the issue of suicides that are haunting our industry, raise interest in funding a full-length documentary to appeal to a broader audience, and ultimately, prevent all suicides from taking place within the ranks of our brothers and sisters.
Provided below is the full 20-minute “The Ghosts They Carry” video that can be viewed in its entirety. Additionally, our professional staff has worked with Oregon based firefighter/paramedic, turned industry focused professional counselor, Tim Dietz, to help guide a healthy conversation through the short feature. This 90-minute curriculum is designed to bring focus for you and your crew members on how best to navigate the sometimes-difficult world we all work within. This curriculum also contains the video in its entirety.
If you are interested in supporting the growing concern of firefighter post-traumatic stress injury (PTSI) and bringing awareness to this topic, please consider donating towards funding of the full-length documentary. Although 360 Fire Training is not a non-profit and therefore donations are not tax deductible, all monies received will go directly towards funding the full-length documentary. Additionally, each donor of one-hundred dollars or more, will be listed within the credits of the full-length documentary. You may list yourself, your crew, your station, your department, your labor group, or whomever you would like. Simply complete the form below to help bring awareness to firefighter PTSI and support firefighter mental health.
Thank you for working with 360 Fire Training to help save firefighters while saving lives!
